25 and Counting

Yesterday I turned 25 years young, and here are 25 amazing things that I have done, love, loved and learned.

1. Fallen in love and had my heart broken
2. Skinny dipped in the sea at night
3. Travelled to 14 different countries
4. Danced under the Full moon on a beach at night
5. Stayed in the Amazon and had a tarantula in my right welly!
6. Been on an Africa Safari
7. Kept a promise from the age of 13 with my best friend that we fulfilled at the age of 22
8. Partied 7 nights straight at carnival in Brazil
9. Made some amazing friends
10. Met Amy Winehouse (and acted like one of those speechless idiotic fans! I loved my pre-Drug Amy)
11. Partied at the last UK Reggae sunsplash ‘98 with family and friends
12. Made friends with bitches
13. Fell out with bitches
14. Made a few fashion mistakes
15. Made a few general mistakes
16. Love and enjoy event moment I spend with my God Daughter wiggle bottom (Kids are amazing)
17. Camped out all afternoon in the Lisbon sun for a front row evening with Lauren Hill (and front row was where I stayed! I did not pee for hours)
18. Cried like baby in the airport when saying goodbye to my dad and sister before I went travelling with my best friend
19. Stayed with my nan and held her hand when she took her last breath
20. Learned to have faith and to believe that everything happens for a reason
21. Learned that sometimes good people do bad and hurtful things
22. Got dressed up, nervous and the giggles of a school girl with my best friend when we attempted to go    and watch a live sex show which was an epic sleazy fail.
23. Ate street meat that my mother sternly told me not to! (And I’m still alive and kicking baby!)
24. Loved every second of my childhood, even the parts when I cried or got grounded.
25. And still Love my dad with all my heart

So for those that get all depressed at the thought of their next birthday because it means you’re another year older than you were the day before, just think of all amazing experiences that you’ve had so far in your life, and if you simply can’t think of any remember this, life is short and waits for no man or woman so get a wiggle on and start living!

Why Every Gal Needs a Samantha Jones For a friend.

If you are a lover of Sex and the City then I’m sure that in whatever friendship group you’re in you’ve had the debates of who’s the Carrie Bradshaw, the Charlotte York, the Miranda Hobbs or the Samantha Jones of the group? While everyone scrambles for Carrie because she has the best wardrobe and shoe selection TV has probably ever seen, others may identify or settle for the other two tame members of the group Charlotte and Miranda, this ultimately means to be the true life Sex and the City gang there will be one person left that must take the title of the wild child of the group Miss Samantha Jones! This usually results in the death of the who’s who conversation as no one ever wants to be the Miss Jones of the group!
Most women were raised to conduct themselves in a certain way, and were taught by their mothers that they must act like a lady and keep their legs firmly closed for a set period of time before allowing a guy to play in their garden of their enchanted flower. Samantha Jones on the other hand is that girl that as a teenager your mother forbid you from hanging around with because Miss Jones couldn’t care less if she made a guy wait a minute or an hour to play in her garden!

Now I can see why most of us gals choose not to be branded the Samantha of the group because let’s face it she’s a straight up hussy, but what everyone seems to forget is that she is also an amazing friend if not the greatest and funniest friend of the group.

Samantha always tells it like it is –

Samantha Jones: Jesus honey! Wax much?
Miranda Hobbes: What? My marriage is going through a rough spot. I don’t have time to wax!
Samantha Jones: I could be on death row and not have that *situation*!
She cares about the sex lives of her friends and not just her thriving own -

Charlotte: We've been trying to you know...
Samantha: F**k?
Charlotte: Whatever! And it's just not....
Samantha: Getting big and hard?
Carrie: What is this dirty mad libs?
Charlotte: I love him, but it's so frustrating.
Miranda: Of course it is.
Charlotte: I mean, last night I got so turned on I almost....
Samantha: Hey, you almost masturbated, he almost got it up, together you almost had sex.

She has the best sex stories that would provide your week with entertainment –

Nurse: Do you have sex?
Samantha: Yes
Nurse: Do you have anal sex,
Samantha: Yes.
Nurse: Do you have oral sex,
give, receive?
Samantha: Yes, yes.
Nurse: Do you swallow?
Samantha: Only when surprised.
Nurse: Do you use condoms?
Samantha: Yes.
Nurse: What kind of condoms?
Samantha: Trojan, Lifestyle, Chic, Wet n Wild...
Nurse: No, I meant, latex, lamp-skin?
Samantha: Oh, yes, yes.
Nurse: How many sexual partners have you had?
(silence from Samantha, nurse looks at her)
Samantha: I'm counting. (thinks) This year?

And most importantly, she never apologises for who she is, she knows she likes Cock-A-Doodle-Do a lot more than the average gal and even for a few episodes she even liked V-jay-jay. But she doesn’t care what this makes her look like to the people that don’t matter, and the people that do matter don’t care, and that’s the way it should be.

Although most girls wouldn’t want to be associated with a gal like Samantha Jones, I for one would love to have miss Jones as my friend, she is true and loyal to the person she is which is an amazing quality and foundation for a true friendship!

There are so many closet Samantha’s out there that I wish would just come out to play as they person they truly are. Not everyone has to like what you do, or even do what you do but as long as you do… what’s the problem? Have confidence in the person that you are and the things that you do. No one is perfect not even Charlotte York-Goldenblatt! How else do you expect people to completely respect you for who you are if you don’t even respect you enough to not hide behind an alter-ego (which by the way eventually everyone sees right through).

But at least a gal like Sammy Jones doesn’t give a f*#! and does it anyway, she’s fun and fearless! She wears her coochie on her sleeve and shoots for the stars! She’ll tell you the raw truth even when it’s not what you want to hear because that’s what a real friend does.

You all may disagree but I think that all of us can learn a lesson from this unforgettable character.

Carrie: Damn! Why is that girl still bothering me?
Samantha: Honey, you have to let it go. If I worried what every bitch in New York was saying about me, I'd never leave the house.

What It Is to be Brave?

I often have people tell me that I’m so brave, this is because on more than one occasion I have taken a chance and had an adventure or two. But the truth is that most of the time I’m shaking in ma boots with the things I do.

I’m not a dare devil or a thrill seeker, no way at all. I’m the girl who holds the bags at the fairground, I’m the girl that spontaneously did a Dash and Dine only to run home and close the blinds to hide from the police! Yep that’s me alright, but bravery is something that I’d never even thought of relating to oneself and even still, I’m not quite sure I do?

Recently I have decided to embark on an adventure that in eight months’ time could leave me feeling like this adventure was by far the greatest and most inspiring of all adventures of my twenty-four years of life, or I could simply be left feeling as though I’ve set myself way further back than I’d intended.

While some people have the fear of travelling alone and essentially being alone, my fear is about regret.

There is a saying that goes, ‘Never regret what you do, only regret what you don’t do’.

I often get caught in those talks with my Dad, Aunt, Uncles and their friends that usually start with “When I was your age I wish I’d done this…” or “When I was your age I had the opportunity go here” and the next part of those sentences usually go something like this, “but I didn’t and it’s one of my biggest regrets”. And I don’t for one moment second guess their regret.

I know that it’s not everything in life that you can do or you must do, but to get the most out of life sometimes you just have to take a leap of faith and hope for the best and at least if it doesn’t work out, you can say at least you tried, or that there was something in life that you wanted and you made it happen, never mind whether it worked out or not, you took a chance and you did it.

My biggest fear is that one day I look back at my life and have those thoughts, that I had the most amazing opportunities to fulfil my dreams, to find new dreams and to make amazing memories in magical places with magnificent people, but I didn’t, and for no real life threatening reason other than … I just didn’t.

So I guess when I put it like that my family and friends are right, I am brave.
