In recent years I’ve worked hard on breaking the habit of
using the new year as an excuse to start something new or make significant
changes in my life, and while I still stand by this there is something to be
said for reflecting at the end of a year and deciding what I want out of the
new year which typically results in me and so many others hitting the ground
running and forgetting exactly what we had set out to do by February!
But last year I decided that maybe if I kept my resolutions
really simple it would work, so I made a small mental list of all the things I
wanted to achieve in 2013 which consisted of finding a job that I was
passionate about and could grow in (Check), to enjoy my hometown (check), to
find the positive in every negative (check), to have fun (check) and the item
on the list that overrode them all was to do whatever feels good for as long as
it feels good and when it doesn’t, just stop (check).
So with the New Year already underway and continuing with
some of the items from my 2013 list that worked a treat I’ve added a few more
for 2014 that are kind of similar to what I found below
